Book Title:

Leadership 2

Youth Leadership

The Making of a Leader.

Introduction.

It is a great honor for me to start thinking as a young man again. I am 61 years of age but my heart still says I am young. When I started writing this book, the Holy Spirit led me powerfully and reminded me of my youth. No one can make himself a leader, or do so by going to Bible school for them to make him a leader. It is like putting a donkey in the garage expecting that it will turn into a car! God calls us and He makes us leaders (servants). Every time I use the word “leader” I mean “servant”. The Biblical meaning of the word “leader” is “servant”.

Jesus taught us not to be called leaders as the world uses the term.

Matt 23:8 But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one teacher, and all of you are brothers.

9 And don't call anyone on earth 'Father,' for you have only one Father, the one in heaven.

10 Nor are you to be called 'Teachers,' for you have only one teacher, the Christ!

11 The person who is greatest among you must be your servant.

12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

How did I start my journey?

I want to share some things from my life in this book. These principles will help you if you are called by God into the leadership and will help every believer in Jesus who reads them.

1 Tim 1:18 Timothy, my child, I am giving you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may continue to fight the good fight

19 with faith and a good conscience. By ignoring their consciences, some people have destroyed their faith like a wrecked ship.

20 These include Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I handed over to Satan so that they may learn not to blaspheme.

I aimed for the best.

I had been looking to our church leadership as my example to follow but they proved to not be a good example for me. I went home very sad, telling the Lord I would have nothing to do with church from then on. The Lord spoke to me so clearly saying “follow me, be like me, I am your example in everything”. So I went for the best, taking Jesus as my example, speaking positive encouraging words like He does, doing things differently to the way they were done in church and following the example in loving people that He set for us. I have continued doing this until now, I have loved God all my life and I have had the privilege of actually seeing Him on three occasions. When you walk like Him and act like Him and speak like Him, you know that you are doing the will of the Father and you will not be concerned about the many difficulties you see along the way.

Faith is my standard of conduct all the time, I live by faith.

Faith is the language of the Holy Spirit in us and through us. I learnt to speak by the Spirit's prompting. I have developed great faith in my life. Faith makes you into a man of God. My personal faith helps me to be like Jesus, the Gift of faith helps me to accomplish the will of God in my life. Faith helped me to go where ever God called me to go and go without fear. When I say “faith” I mean “the faith of Jesus in me”. His faith in me helps me to live by faith continually and serve the Lord. The Lord has supplied all my needs to the present and I believe He always will.

The Word of God is my daily food and drink.

When I started reading the New Testament I read it for 8 hours a day, I read it 100 times, then I started with the Old Testament to see and understand the difference for men of God with & without the grace of God. I learnt alot from their mistakes and from their success. I am still studying the Word every day, some days I spend from 2 hours to as much as 5 hours studying and writing. The written Word of God helps me to know the will of God. The Word of God is my navigator telling me where I am and my destiny and how to reach it. I can confidently say that the Word of God has helped me and my wife not to fall into sin or to follow false teaching and it has helped us to do the will of the Father as Jesus did.

I have kept myself clean from these things all my life, by the grace of God.

  • I kept myself clean from sin.

  • I kept myself clean from the love of money.

  • I kept myself clean from controlling others.

  • I kept myself away from proud people.

  • I kept myself under the leadership all the time.

  • I kept myself working with the church leadership team and remain part of it. The team are the church decision makers who have covered me.

  • I kept myself free from titles and positions all the time. I like people to call me by my name, “George” or “Brother George” if they need a title. I like being called a church builder. I see my part of the work of the fivefold ministry as a ministry not as a title.

God called me because of His love for me. We cannot be something without the calling of God. Why?

Because your ministry is in your calling. When God called Moses to deliver his people, the delivery happened by the spoken word of God before Moses left the burning bush. I did not understand this truth as a young man but now I see it happening every time the Lord tells me to do something. The event has been created by what He tells me to do and then as I do it, it is revealed. Another way of saying this is, the Lord sees His will created in me before I see it.

My willingness to do His will in my life.

My prayer is the same prayer Jesus prayed.

Matt 6:7-14 "When you are praying, don't say meaningless words like the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard because of their wordiness.

8 Don't be like them, because your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 "Therefore, this is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.

I have kept the name of the Lord holy at all times. I ask for “His kingdom to come” not my kingdom, I am building His kingdom continually and preaching about His kingdom.

10 May your kingdom come. May your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread,

I thank God for His provision all the time. It is His will for me not to worry about anything in my life.

12 And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.

I have learnt to forgive all the time.

13 And never bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'

14 For if you forgive people their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

The spirit of learning.

  • One thing that has helped me all my life and continues with me is the spirit of learning. I am a student to the Holy Spirit and in the School of Jesus.

  • I have learnt many good things from my family, through the problems we have faced. I have considered every problem as a challenge and homework for me to learn from.

  • My map for my journeys is the Word of God, it is my constant guide.

  • I have learnt from men of God like Paul, he is my mentor after Jesus. I learn from all the mistakes made by the men of the Bible, I search for a better way to go.

  • I have learnt from Bible Schools and from the lives of their teachers.

  • I have learnt from my father and my mother, they were great leaders in our country.

  • I have learnt from my ministry more than I can say. I have traveled the world and ministered in many churches with all kinds of people of the world. The Holy Spirit is my teacher, ministry is practical training.

My open ears and open eyes.

  • I am always hungry to hear His Word.

  • It is my choice to listen to the Lord.

  • It is my daily habit to wait to hear something from the Lord.

  • What I hear from Him, I speak.

  • An open ear is the key to having direction in life.

  • The necessary condition to keeping the glory of the Lord over our lives is to hear and to see in the Spirit. Jesus has open ears and open eyes.

Isaiah 42:17-21

17 They shall be turned back; they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? Who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the Lord's servant?

20 Seeing many things, but thou observes not; opening the ears, but he hearth not.

21 The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable.

My heart is to obey Him all the way. My mother and my sisters helped me, they were very powerful teachers for me in this area. I learnt prayer by praying. I learnt to operate in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

God called me to the ministry when I was 17 years old. I started two churches at the age of 17. I started preaching when I was 17.

I went to the lost and never gave up speaking about these things:-

  • Satan and his tricks and lies to the world.

  • About negative people and their effect on us.

  • How to cope with trials because of your faith in Jesus.

  • How to face needs, God will supply all your needs.

  • Do not give up when you have problems because God is greater than your problems.

I have kept my vision all my life.

While I am alive, my vision will stay alive in me, in Jesus. Jesus is my life and my vision, and when I die, others will carry the vision. The Lord started with me and has continued till today. I give glory to the Lord for all that He has done in me and through me. The Lord says “I need a Man to send to this nation”.

I am calling for the youth, and everyone who is hearing my voice, to go as prophets across the land and speak.

God is calling His people to go and work in His vineyards. Who will go?
